Big Mouth Baits Sid Fishious is a bold, badass bait that was built to break all the rules. With fine-tuned precision and ultra-sharp hooks, the Sid Fishious is a rebellious shallow water crankbait that bass won’t be able to resist. Moving through the water with a fish-attracting wobble and a lip that is built to deflect off of the bottom to trigger strikes. Add a killer paint job and you’ve got a bait that is ready for the water, right out of the package.
Changing up your retrieve speed when you’re fishing a shallow crankbait can really help you dial-in how you should be fishing it in a given situation. Too often a medium-paced, consistent retrieve is what anglers do 90% of the time. Mix it up. Try crawling it slow along the bottom, only reeling fast enough to keep the bait from floating up. If you don’t get bit, do the opposite. Burn it fast, deflecting it off of any bottom rocks or cover. Then, try a stop and go, letting the bait float up briefly for a second before reeling down again.
Often with treble hook baits, novice anglers’ fish with rods that are too stiff and they set the hook too hard when they feel a strike. This rips the bait out of their mouth and causes you not to get hooked up. Try fishing crankbaits with a parabolic cranking rod or at least a rod with some good bend in it. When you feel a bite, just slowly ease into the hookset turning slightly and applying pressure, reeling into the hook set.
